All 10 pouches in the mother pack must be returned to get the 5-cent refund. In NB, each pouch attracts a deposit and the refund is given on each item.
NON-ACCEPTED CONTAINERS (Non-Deposit Bearing)
The following beverages are not considered ready-to-drink
beverages and therefore, do not have a deposit.
What do I do with Other Containers?
All non-deposit bearing beverage containers, as well as all other types of empty recyclable containers (food, household cleaning products, etc.), should be recycled through your regional solid waste commission’s recycling program.
-
Powdered or frozen juices (E.g. Minute Maid, Cool Quenchers, Old South, etc.)
-
Concentrates (ex: lemon juice mix, Slush Puppy syrup, vanilla extract, etc.)
-
Fruit syrups
Not part of the program:
-
Infant formula
-
Containers greater than 5 litres
-
No wine kit boxes are subject to the deposit/refund program
-
Milk and milk products (ex: milk, chocolate milk, cereal cream, yogurt, eggnog, etc.)
-
Milk substitutes (ex: soya milk, Almond Breeze milk, coconut milk, hemp milk, Silk milk, etc.)
-
Meal replacements, nutrition shakes and liquid dietary supplements (ex: Ensure, Boost, etc.)

Containers purchased outside New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, including other provinces and the USA, etc.
In N.S., some non-dairy products, meal replacements, nutrition shakes and liquid dietary supplements are subject to a deposit/refund. A good rule to follow is look at the ingredients; if the first or second ingredient is milk, then there is no deposit.
